ROBYN launches interactive 3D music video, and it's #killingme
The Swedish alternative pop star known as ROBYN has launched a coded, 3D activated, interactive music video for her latest single, "Don't Fucking tell me what to do".
It starts with visualisations which feature lyrics from the song, and progresses along it's electro-synth beat to bring out the feeds from it's twitter hashtag #killingme in the second half of the video. They're credited in real time with their name at the bottom of the webpage. And the twitter symbol at the top right of the page encourages others to do the same.
I'm super excited about this marriage between hashtag and music video release. And it is interesting seeing the way that fans are engaging with it, considering that if you believe what they say, twitter is supposedly "for grownups" and doesn't appeal so much to a young audience. An execution like this might just prove for a niche queen like ROBYN, it might work the other way.
It's just the latest example of some of the creative and social ways in which new music is being released with an increasing interactive and experimental frame of mind. Lately I have been keeping a close eye on new ways the music industry have been engaging fans online, and will be sure to feature some more of this goodness soon. For now, just grab your 3D glasses and enjoy.
